The Zeiss seems like the heaviest 50mm, but that doesn't mean it's the toughest. The Zeiss was originally made by Cosina for the Contax SLRs, and has a 58mm filter thread and a deeper, longer front. There's more metal ahead of the front element, which makes it longer and heavier.

PLUG

I spent almost two months shooting and writing this comparison of 50mm lenses. No one pays me for this. If you find this as helpful as a book you might have had to buy or a workshop you may have had to take, feel free to help me write more with a donation.

Thanks for reading!
