I use these stores. I can't vouch for ads below.

The Sony FDA-EV1S is an external electronic viewfinder for its NEX-5R and older NEX-5N cameras. I pops on the top, displacing the flash.

Unlike the camera's rear LCD, this finder is superb. It's bright, clear and sharp, and the image is shown with nothing written on top of it.

It has an eye sensor, so it turns itself or the camera's rear LCD on and off automatically as you lift the camera to your eye. It always worked properly, but did take a moment to switch. I never needed to use the little manual button on its side.

The 4:3 aspect ratio is perfect, since it shows the camera's 3:2 image perfectly, and the camera's data is shown in the two very thin matte bars along the top and bottom.

Oddly, the menu and graphic screens are squashed left to right, but since everything else, especially the camera images, are perfect, so I won't take points off for that.

The only other technical gotcha is that the finder's image is warmer and more vivid than the image, so the finder makes the images look better than they are. Pay attention and don't use the finder for critical adjustments, otherwise your resulting images will be cooler and duller than seen in the finder.

With about a 60mm focal length lens, the finder becomes life-sized and one can shoot with both eyes open.

Ergonomically everything is wonderful, although when shoulder-carried the finder often will flip-up. No big deal, just flip it down as you bring it to your eye.

It's powered by the camera.

There's nothing to set-up; just remove the flash and screw it down into the little port on top of the camera.

This FDA-EV1S finder is wonderful if you have a Sony NEX-5R or older NEX-5N camera.

The only problem isn't with the finder, but with the cameras: they have only one accessory connection, so adding the finder loses the flash.
