12 April 2012, Thursday top Today Dave and I finished some last-minute scouting. A cataclysmic storm was predicted, so we wanted to polish our plan B for rain. We headed to Port San Luis. Porthole, Port San Luis Harbor, 11:12 AM. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/1.8 at 1/150 at AUTO ISO 200.)
Freezer Handle, Port San Luis Harbor, 11:21 AM. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/2.8 at 1/52 at AUTO ISO 640.)
Yellow Curb, Port San Luis Harbor, 11:23 AM. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/6.4 at 1/350 at AUTO ISO 800.) This shot is just a yellow line, not a curb.
Port San Luis Harbor Pier, 11:27 AM. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/6.4 at 1/350 at AUTO ISO 800.) This snap is all about the three red dots. It's got nothing to do with stop signs, in fact if I wasn't so lazy, I would have painted-out the STOP and just left the sign red. Time for lunch back in town.
Red Seats, Arroyo Grande Taco Bell, 12:45 PM. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/4 at 1/56 at AUTO ISO 400.)
Photo, Arroyo Grande, 1:42 PM. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/8 at 1/400 at AUTO ISO 400.) We met the group at 3 PM at our motel, and wandered into San Luis Obispo's Farmer's Market.
Pub, San Luis Obispo, 6:53 PM. ORIGINAL © FILE. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/8 at 1/105 at AUTO ISO 800.) Goodness, this camera and lens are super-sharp, even at f/1.4 at ISO 100. Check out the ORIGINAL © FILE, noting that very little, like the lowest neon, is in focus. We thought we were going to escape the rain, but we heard a flash of lighting and heard a muffled rumble of thunder later, so we still considered ourselves safe. A short while later, it started to rain, and then rain harder and harder.
Hotel, San Luis Obispo, 7:38 PM. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/1.4 at 1/70 at AUTO ISO 800.) The hard rain turned to heavy rain and the heavy rain turned into sheets of rain. The sheets of rain turned to hail the size of golf balls!
Chorro, San Luis Obispo, 7:40 PM. ORIGINAL © FILE. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/1.4 at 1/52 at AUTO ISO 1,250.) You folks from México will get a kick out of the street name: Chorro! How appropriate.
Hailstorm! 7:41 PM. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/1.4 at 1/52 at AUTO ISO 1,250.) We were under an awning, thank goodness. The hail turned back into heavy rain, at which point we made a break for it to run seven blocks back to our cars. Here's a snap made as we ran. The Fujifilm X-Pro1 excels at grab shots; I had no time to set anything: Big Sky, San Luis Obispo, 7:51 PM. ORIGINAL © FILE. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/1.4 at 1/52 at AUTO ISO 2,500.)
Red and Green, Arroyo Grande, 8:32 PM. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/2.8 at 1/26 at ISO 400.) It's night-night time.
That's all for today. NEXT ->> Friday
