Canon FD 20mm f/2.8 S.S.C. NEW: How to Use Ultrawide Lenses 11 August 2008 INTRODUCTION This is a pretty darn good manual focus lens. SPECIFICATIONS 72mm filter, stops to f/22. Push-on stamped metal lens cap. All metal construction. S.S.C. just means it's multicoated. PERFORMANCE It is very sharp. Barrel distortion is typical; maybe less than the Nikkor 20mm f/2.8 (all versions) or the Nikkor 17-35/2.8 at 20mm. Ghosting is OK, I don't recall looking for it or seeing anything that bad. RECOMMENDATIONS Buy one. I would. I have no idea why people pay almost as much as a new AF lens ($400) for these old manual lenses completely incompatible with any modern camera, but they do. |
