MacCase iPad cases are luxurious couture-grade all-natural leather cases.

The leather is soft and thick and feels great in-hand. I've never felt a more comfortable case; MacCases are pure luxury at bargain prices considering their incredible quality.

Their soft, thick and smooth leather feels wonderful. Something with the same quality leather, padding, stitching and construction would cost thousands of dollars from Hermès — if Hermès made iPad cases.

These are priced higher than lesser cases at Amazon, and save money in the long run because they really do protect our iPads.

The design is simple and timeless, like something from Hermès or Armani, and since it's a small American company, sells for much less.

MacCase iPad cases are sold directly by MacCase.

Protection

If I had a MacCase iPad case for my first-generation iPad Pro back in 2016 when I lamented that there were no good cases for it, it would have saved me from having to buy a new iPad Pro in 2020, paying for the MacCase iPad case many, many times over.

Back in 2016 I settled for the best I could find, which was an Icarer case made of a flimsy leather-like compound claimed to be leather. It covered all the corners for protection and worked pretty well. When I dropped it one day, the plastic corner of my Icarer case cracked, while my iPad Pro seemed fine inside. Every time you drop an iOS device, 95% or the time it hits on a corner. Corner protection is critical.

My old iPad was fine until I sent my iPad Pro to Apple for a new battery (weird that its battery died in only five years; my original 2010 iPad and 2011 iPad 2 still work flawlessly in 2020). Instead of $99 for a new battery, Apple discovered "additional damage" and now wanted $599 to fix it. No way; instead I bought a brand-new leftover third-generation iPad Pro 12.9" with twice as much storage (256GB) and 4G LTE for $829 on close-out at B&H.

Upon receiving my old iPad Pro back from Apple, I looked for the hidden damage. I discovered an almost invisible dent right where I had thought the other case had protected it. If I had had a better case like this MacCase iPad case, I wouldn't have had to buy a whole new iPad, as well as would have had a much better-feeling case for the past five years.

Even if it doesn't save you from having to buy a new iPad as I did, you probably will add a lot of value to your old iPad when you trade it in or sell it if it's in great condition having been protected by this case. You just may recoup the extra cost of this case, making it essentially free.

Animal-Friendly Genuine Leather

MacCase iPad cases are made with guilt-free, no-kill genuine animal-friendly sacred-cow leather.

The leather comes from a Hindu family in India who makes it from dairy cows who pass naturally - no kidding! The leather comes from cows who enjoyed long, happy lives. Since they wait for cows to pass on their own, sometimes MacCase may have to wait a couple of months until a hide becomes available that meets MacCase's standards.

Regardless of the source, this leather feels fantastic, soft and smooth, and exactly as we always knew leather was supposed to feel.

Design

The case is black polymer tray that covers all but the front of the iPad, sewn and bonded to a padded leather folio cover. The polymer is stiffer than silicone but softer than the crappy hard plastic of my Icarer case. The polymer absorbs and distributes impacts if for some reason you're able to drop it in some way that the leather can't protect it. The polymer doesn't crack or tear and doesn't wear out.

The case seen here with my 2018 third-generation iPad pro has polymer buttons covering the iPad's buttons, while the current design for the newest 2020 iPad Pros have cutouts to allow direct access to the buttons. Of course all the cameras, speakers, microphones and connectors all have cutouts.

The polymer iPad tray magically locks to the soft ultra-suede liner, holding the iPad in any position. The mechanics of the thick bent leather balance it perfectly at any angle:

Who is MacCase?

Seeing no dedicated cases available for Apple's PowerBook laptops, MacCase was founded in 1998 to make the first computer-specific high-quality laptop cases.

MacCase was founded and is still run by the same experienced designer, Michael Santoro, who is has been absolutely crazy about making quality cases for decades. Previously he designed the Jeep Wrangler and the interior of the Gulfstream G5.

Yes, these cases cost a little more than the crappy cases I used to buy at Amazon, but they're well worth it when it saves me a $599 repair bill.

Call MacCase in California at 760 729-0620 during business hours and you might just get Michael himself.

More Goodies

Even better, if MacCase's in-stock options don't suit you, you can order a custom case exactly as you'd like it. How about that?

There is a magnetic modular accessory system that sticks to the magnets in the front of the folio cases.

I also got this Premium Leather Accessory Pouch which is perfect for holding the beyerdynamic Aventho Wireless headphones I use with my iPad Pro, as well as the charger and cable. It's about 6 × 6 × 2 inches and made of the same great leather with internal padding:
