The key to vivid fall color is to place the sun behind the trees. Let the light shine through the leaves. This makes the color twice as vivid as having the sun behind you. Next Photo >>

What makes this shot interesting is 1.) the speckled lighting that adds depth to the hills, and 2.) highlights the spot of color in the lower right. Next Photo >>

Color contrast is what makes this work. The three-dimensional effect comes from contrast between the blue sky and the yellow leaves. As all painters know, warm colors move forward, bringing the tree forward and pushing the sky back. Next Photo >>

I was too lazy to straighten this. I'm really impressed at how the brilliant aluminum boats rendered. The green spots on the boats are registration stickers. The orange blobs at top left center are ghosts. Next Photo >>

I love the tremendous sucking power of the 14mm. See how everything pulls out towards the edges? The fact that yellow moves forward helps make this shot appear three-dimensional. I was too lazy to run this shot though DxO as I usually do with my 14mm. The hokey 6-pointed sunstar comes from the fact that my 14mm only has a 6-bladed diaphragm. Next Photo >>

This isn't a photo of a tree. This photo has only one subject, and that is color. Next Photo >>

Again, this photo is about color, not trees. Next Photo >>
