Today we walked down to the banks of the Merced River.

If this looks three-dimensional, it's because warm colors like the letters appear to come forward, while blues recede. This comes from thousands of years as cave men's subconscious realized that the (blue) sky was the farthest thing from them, and their bright, warm fires were closest. Color and lighting are far more important to 3-D imaging than using an actual stereoscopic process.
