Baby Ryan Rockwell

< < Back to Today's Photos

Baby Katie Rockwell
See my sister Katie's website, too!

Born 8:16:30 PM, 15 December 2006, La Jolla, California.

8 pounds, 12.2 ounces (3,975g). 20" (51 cm).

The technical gobbledygook after each shot is the equipment I used for each photo. Many photographer friends ask.

31 May 2009, Sunday

Ryan now insists on setting the bath temperature himself.

27 May 2009, Wednesday

Ryan dropped his first poop into the bowl tonight.

No wonder I'm so childish: wouldn't it be great if everytime I pooped into the toilet that everyone I know congratulated me, and celebrated as if I had just returned from man's first walk on the moon or having won le Tour de France for the eighth time?

I'll spare you the photos, but I will share Ryan's own words on this (recorded with the Nikon D3).

26 May 2009, Tuesday

Ryan says "Beem" as his word for bear, as in the bear on his pajamas.

Ryan's First Earthquake!

We had an earthquake at 8:39PM.

It was a magnitude 4.7 centered just a couple of miles east of Los Angeles International (LAX) airport.

Down here 150 miles (200km) south in lazy La Jolla, we felt it only as a quick rocking back and forth for a second, at which point I called up the real earthquake information, realized it was "just LA," and went back to sleep.

11 May 2009, Monday

In the morning, Ryan loves for Daddy to let him play in our cars.

Ryan wakes up, and his first thing is to grab Daddy out of bed saying "Big Truck! Big Truck!" to go down in the garage and play in the "Mee!" or "May!" (for daddy's car), and "Big Truck!" or "Boo-Ahh!" for Mommy's car.

Ryan is good at recognizing cars. He'll say "May!" (Mercedes) and point, and it will take us a while to note the car that he already saw a while ago.

Ryan's favorite for the past year has been the "Volva!," the Volvo (mom's car), as seen on these pages.

Ryan takes his jacket off all by himself and hands it to Daddy after we came back from Daddy pushing Ryan about 3-1/2 miles in his stroller. Ryan can put his pants on and off and can take off a jacket, but he can't put on a shirt or jacket yet.

03 May 2009, Sunday

Ryan first calls me Dah-Dee as well as Dada. Ryan also says "Wiggle Movie" to mean his DVD of the Wiggles' Big Red Boat, a great show. Ryan likes to watch it for an hour and a half every night, if we can stay up that late.

Ryan says "Mee!" or "May!" to mean Mercedes and "Boo-ahh" to mean Porsche as we play in them.

02 May 2009, Saturday

First thing this morning Ryan took me for a ride in my car. He pulled me out of bed and down into the garge. He popped open my car's trunk, put his ba-ba (bottle) in the trunk asked me to close the trunk, then opened my car door and let me get in, he closed the door and walked around to the driver's door, let himself in, closed the door and put on his seatbelt. He put the key in the ignition and turned it just enough to unlock the steering (H he knows how to llight it up, but I suggested he didn't) and he took me for a ride.

Ryan then took out the key, took off his seatbelt and got out and reversed the entire process to get me and the ba-ba out of the car. Yay!

Ryan today also said "apple juice" for the first time, and when he gets it, passes it around to the baby, his other toys and Daddy so we each can drink some. He also can say "apple."
