Sony ZV-E1.

The ZV-E1 is a 12MP 4K Full-Frame no-viewfinder camera optimized for selfie run-and-gun video.

Sony's pretty excited about this camera because it comes closer to how well the iPhone just works for video.

Sony's pitch mostly emphasizes how many faces it can identify for autofocus and video frame rates and so forth — all number claims. Your video's not going to look any better or get more likes at 4K/60 than it will at 1,080/24. All that matters is the quality of your story and how well you tell it, not your frame rate or pixel depth.

My curiosity is if it deals with real-world suboptimal lighting as well as the magic HDR of iPhone that makes auxiliary lighting mostly obsolete, and if the ZV-E1 has stabilization as good as iPhone which renders gimbals obsolete as well. 4K/120 and 1,080/240 are promised later in a firmware update.

The other huge difference is format. If you want everything sharp and in focus, iPhone does that best with its small sensor and short lenses. If you want soft backgrounds, the larger sensor of the ZV-E1 has an advantage, although iPhone's CINEMATIC mode will do the same thing.

The other real-world question is if the ZV-E1 can clairvoyantly keep everything in focus all by itself as well as iPhone does. When we shoot anything in Hollywood it's always all manual focus, with one guy, the focus puller, in charge of nothing but pulling focus back and forth between actors. You need exceptional care in focus with the limited depth of field of larger format cameras, while iPhones with their smaller sensors, larger depths-of-field and active LiDAR focus systems always nail it.

What? A second 85/1.2? This 85 DX is no BS: it means "Defocus Smnoothing" which means thisis an ultra-bokeh (soft, smoth background) lens. It's ultra-ultra sharp, and the defocussed parts are extra smooth and creamy. it's images wil look three dimensional becuase of the huge contrast between sharp subject and soft background.
