NEW: Fujinon XF 80mm f/2.8 Macro OIS Review.

Hint: Fujifilm has a huge sale going on through Saturday the 30th on its lenses, so this lens is now $300 off, and the Fujifilm 8-16mm I'm in the middle of reviewing is a whopping $500 off — but not for long. The 8-16mm is a great lens, but so big that it dwarfs the Fujifilm cameras. If you're getting the 8-16mm, don't wait for me to finish writing before you order. It passes all its tests with flying colors, but writing takes time.

Canon 1DX MK II Deal

Canon 1DX Mk II

Canon 1DX Mk II and EF 50mm f/1.2 L.

The world's top pro DSLR, the Canon 1DX Mark II now sells for $500 off ($5,499) at Adorama, at B&H, at Amazon and at Crutchfield. You can save over $1,000 if you want to forgo the warranty and support and take your chances with a gray market version for $4,455 through third parties at Amazon.

What I love about the 1DX Mk II that can't be measured is how the pictures always have a magic about them. Here's a typical unprocessed image right from the 1DX Mk II as a JPG — shot with my $100 used EF 28-135mm IS:

Red 1950's car with raised hood

1955 Chevrolet with raised hood, 29 October 2016. (Canon 1DX Mk II, Standard Picture Control with +4 Saturation and 7/5/5 Sharpening, Canon EF 28-135mm IS at 53mm, Canon 320EX flash, f/16 at 1/250 at Auto ISO 400, as shot.) bigger or © camera-original JPG file shot at image size L, JPG quality 5.

The 1DX Mark II is for pros who shoot all day, every day for a living and need to get great, salable images right out of the camera, not kids who live with their parents making online videos about cameras and computer processing all day.

Sony 18-200mm PZ

Sony E 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS PZ.

Bigger, heavier lens with better optics than the Sony E 18-200mm OSS LE, and adds Power Zoom (PZ) for smooth zooms for video.

This is a video lens, not as practical as the Sony E 18-200mm OSS LE for regular hand-held still shooting.

Updates

This week I updated a lot of my Canon EOS R System pages. I updated the EOS RP review and EOS RP Plain English Users Guide, as well as updated Nikon vs Canon vs Sony Full-Frame Mirrorless.

Not only did I create new reviews of the Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L USM and Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM, I added new sections on Coma performance with sample images for these two lenses as well as the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. I also added detailed Image Stabilization measurements on all three, and that includes the stabilization performance of the massive Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L USM which has no stabilization!

Half-Price: Fujifilm X-A3 in Black & silver or in brown & silver or in pink & silver: $290.

NEW: Rokinon Full-Frame ultra-ultra-wide 10mm f/3.5 for Canon EF.

NEW: LEICA APO-SUMMICRON-SL 35mm f/2 ASPH.

Help me help you

I support my growing family through this website, as crazy as it might seem.

If you find this as helpful as a book you might have had to buy or a workshop you may have had to take, feel free to help me continue helping everyone.

If you've gotten your gear through one of my links or helped otherwise, you're family. It's great people like you who allow me to keep adding to this site full-time. Thanks!

If you haven't helped yet, please do, and consider helping me with a gift of $5.00.

The biggest help is when you use any of these links when you get anything, regardless of the country in which you live. It costs you nothing, and is this site's, and thus my family's, biggest source of support. eBay is always a gamble, but all the other places always have the best prices and service, which is why I've used them since before this website existed. I recommend them all personally.

Thanks for reading!
